Former "Survivor: Philippines" star Lisa Whelchel revealed Wednesday that she has been fighting West Nile Virus, though she would not disclose details about whether or not she got the virus while on the CBS show.

"Survivor" finished filming in April and is currently airing on television. Fans still do not know the results of the 25th season.

"[Doctor] just called with blood test results...I have West Nile. Ugh. I'm fine, just tired. Takes a year to recover," she revealed on Twitter on Wednesday.

The mosquito-borne virus can cause infection that can lead to West Nile fever or severe West Nile disease, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Symptoms for the virus include fever, headache, tiredness, and body aches, sometimes accompanied by a skin rash and swollen lymph glands. It can last a few days or several weeks.

Symptoms of the disease include headache, high fever, neck stiffness, stupor, disorientation, coma, tremors, convulsions, muscle weakness and paralysis, according to the CDC. The disease is also called neuroinvasive disease, such as West Nile encephalitis or meningitis, or West Nile poliomyelitis.

Fellow "Survivor" star Stephen Fishbach, who got voted off after 22 votes in a plot spearheaded by Whelchel, told People magazine that "The Facts of Life" star never had any strategy on the show.

"She never played the game. She stood around in groups and during the conversations said, 'I'll do what you tell me to do,' " he said. "She never once showed in any conversation that she was trying to play the game. We were ripping on her for not having any strategy."

"She had no game. No clue at all. She was fighting her morals and ethics, worried about lying," he added. "And then she starts lying to people. The way she played the game really hurt her chances."
