Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is quite a ways away, but the Marvel sequel has already scheduled its production dates.

'Agents Of SHIELD' Season 3: Ward Will Be The 'Yin' To Coulson's 'Yang', The 'Hero' Of Hydra's Story

The highly anticipated follow up to 2014's breakout hit will fly into theaters in May 2017, and the cast will head back to work this winter (see video below).

Director James Gunn and actors Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Vin Diesel (Groot), and Bradley Cooper (Rocket) will enter the studio on Feb. 15, according to Spoiler TV, and finish filming on Aug. 15, 2016.

'Agents Of SHIELD' Season 3: Say Goodbye To Skye; Chloe Bennet Dishes On Daisy's Evolution

As per usual, all dates are subject to change.

When viewers reunite with the Guardians, Peter Quill's familial history will be exposed. Star-Lord has yet to learn his father's true identity, and writer/director James Gunn is planning on giving that particular tale a whole new twist.

"It's different than what's in the comic books. Peter Quill's father is somebody different in the comics," Gunn previously informed Uproxx. "So then when the movie came out, we got green-lit on the sequel right away. I went in and I sat down with those guys and I'm like, 'Okay, here's what I think the sequel should be.' And they were like, 'Oh, whoa. That's risky, but okay.'"
