"Don't ever think that the world owes you anything because it doesn't. The world doesn't owe you a thing." This is entrepreneur Joy Mangano's (Lawrence) message to her daughter Christie, which opens up the new trailer for Joy. The film centers on Mangano's rise to power in the business world, while also dealing with raising three children on her own.

The new trailer, which was posted by 20th Century Fox today, gives greater information into what Joy will ultimately be about. While there is no mention of the Miracle Mop, which the real-life Mangano invented, we get a feel for her tenacity for getting what she wants amid struggling with adversity.

Mangano's father is portrayed by Robert De Niro, who appears to have a significant role in the film. He gets several scenes where he is doubting Mangano's ambitions, ultimately admitting he filled her with too much confidence.

One compelling scene features a woman played by Isabella Rossellini, who presents Mangano with a hypothetical scenario: "You are in a room and there is a gun on the table. The only other person in the room is an adversary in commerce. Only one of you can prevail. Do you pick up the gun, Joy?" Mangano quickly responds, "I pick up the gun."

The trailer features soft rock music like "To Love Somebody" by The Bee Gees, giving a more light-hearted tone, which suggests some possible touches of comedy in the film.

This is a very clear Oscar contender especially for Lawrence, who appears to be commanding the film in a way we haven't seen since Winter's Bone, which nabbed her her first Oscar nomination. Lawrence also has a fantastic track record with Joy director David O. Russell, who she collaborated with on American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook, the latter of which won her an Oscar.

Joy opens in theaters on Christmas Day.
