'Agents Of SHIELD' Season 3: Crusher Crell Is Back For The Midseason Premiere, Which Side Will He Join?

Director James Gunn blew fans away with Peter Quill's 2014 adventure, and Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot will jump in the Milano once more in 2017. This time, however, Thanos won't be dropping by.

Gunn elaborated on Thanos' absence during a Facebook Q&A.

Agents Of SHIELD' Season 3: First Look At Slingshot! Elena Rodriguez's Debut Episode Confirmed

"Thanos will not appear in Vol. 2. No. As I've said before, Thanos isn't in this movie," Gunn explained. "I think he's gonna have a little bit to do and say when it comes to a certain wars and infinity. We've got other fish to fry in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."

Thos "other fish" will apparently have to do with Peter Quill's father. While the MCU takes a break from the Infinity Stones, Star-Lord's allegedly angelic dad will enter the mix. Fans should be warned, however. Peter's pops will not be the same person as in the comic books.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 will hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
