Debby Ryan opened up on going from acting to producing in the new film Jessica Darling's It List.

In an interview with Just Jared on Tuesday, the Disney Channel star dished on what it's like to be in front of the camera as well as behind it. As it turns out, they both have their advantages.

"I love them both in different ways," Ryan said. "I think I had to be an actress and then begin directing to know what was required of me as a producer. But there's no feeling like watching this movie and seeing it come to life."

The star also revealed what it is she loves so much about this film that people should check out now that it's available.

"One of my favorite parts of this movie is that things start going right for Jessica when she starts playing by her own rules," Ryan said. "I worked with Marvista that produced my movie Sixteen Wishes and we produced Radio Rebel together- so I'm excited for people to see the particular breed of magic we make together."

Ryan also had the pleasure of working with a fun cast, including Chloe East, Eva Bella and Kyla-Drew.

"I loved and adored this cast so much," she said. "Going into this I was aware this would be a lot of people's first major vehicle and I think they all have such futures ahead of them. I'm so proud of the work they did on the film."

The film revolves around Jessica's sister giving her a list on how to navigate popularity in middle school. But it comes with some challenges along the way.

Jessica Darling's It List is now available on Digital HD and On Demand.
