After playing the innocent, rule-abiding character of Hermione in the renowned Harry Potter series, Emma Watson has gone bad in her role as a fame-obsessed teen in The Bling Ring.

In the movie’s newly-released trailer, the 23-year-old actress plays a bad girl longing for the life of those rich and famous.

Watson and her friends decide the only way to get close to the celebrities is to steal from their homes. The movie, based on a true story, recalls a group of teenagers who robbed the homes of celebrities including Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Orlando Bloom in 2008 and 2009.

The teens were caught for stealing up to $3 million worth of clothes, jewelry and other valuables.

Watson recently received the Trailblazer Award at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, where she was honored for her roles in films like Harry Potter, My Week With Marilyn and Perks of Being a Wildflower.

"So after seeing this clip, I look back at all of the work I've done over the last 14 years and many things come to mind — most importantly, how bad my hair was in the first Harry Potter film!" Watson joked during her acceptance speech.

The Bling Ring, directed by Sofia Coppola will premiere in May at the Cannes Film Festival and hits theaters June 14.
