From her hair to alleged failure of sportsmanship, Gabrielle Douglas has gotten lots of backlash. In the latest, she spoke out after she failed to stand while her two teammates Simone Biles and Aly Raisman took home the gold and silver medals for the All-Around gymnastics competitions.

“I apologize if that made me seem to be really mad in the stands,” she said, according to NBC this weekend. “I was supporting Aly. I will always support them and respect them. I don’t want anyone to take it as jealous or I wanted attention. Never. I support hem and I’m sorry I wasn’t showing it.”

Douglas, who made history in the 2012 Olympics in London is definitely having a different experience this time around. She was just 16 when she became the first African-American woman to win the All-Around gold medal.
This isn’t the first time Dougals has apologized for a controversial action during the Olympic Games this time around.

She took to Twitter to speak on why she didn’t place her hand over her heart during the singing of the national anthem last week.

“First I want to thank you everyone for all your support! It’s a huge honor for me to be able to represent #TeamUSA. In response to a few tweets I saw tonight, I always stand at attention out of respect for our country whenever the national anthem is being played. I never meant any disrespect and apologize if I offended anyone. I’m so overwhelmed at what our team accomplished today and overjoyed that we were able to bring home another gold for our country!”
