Lena Dunham is once again in the middle of a tornado of controversy after admitting that she wishes she had an abortion.

Dunham was speaking on her Women of the Hour podcast about visiting a Planned Parenthood in Texas when she made a rather alarming comment. The Girls creator and actress said that a girl asked her to share her abortion experience.

"I sort of jumped. 'I haven't had an abortion,' I told her. I wanted to make it really clear to her that, as much as I was going out and fighting for other women's options, I myself had never had an abortion," Dunham said. "And I realized then that even I was carrying within myself stigma around this issue. Even I, the woman who cares as much as anybody about a woman's right to choose, felt that it was important that people know that I was unblemished in this department."

Dunham applauded friends and family for their "bravery" in having abortions of their own, and how she's needed to rethink her own feelings on the issue. That's when the actress said the now controversial comment:

"Now I can say that I still haven't had an abortion, but I wish I had."

Dunham's comment has since become a trending topic on Twitter, with many denouncing the actress for making such a statement:

Dunham has yet to respond to the backlash publicly.
