Sara Bareilles will be performing during the In Memoriam segment at the Oscars on Sunday.

Oscar ceremony producers Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd announced Friday that Bareilles will be singing for the annual In Memoriam portion of the telecast.

"Sara's unique artistry will honor those we've lost in our community including familiar faces and those behind the scenes who have enriched the art of moviemaking," De Luca and Todd said in a statement.

Bareilles is no stranger to In Memoriam segments. The singer performed a cover of Charlie Chaplin's "Smile" during the In Memoriam segment at the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards.

This year's segment at the Oscars will likely have even more resonance than ever considering the amount of talent lost in 2016. Among stars lost in 2016 were Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds, George Kennedy, Garry Shandling, Patty Duke, Doris Roberts, Anton Yelchin, Garry Marshall, Michael Cimino, Gene Wilder, Alexis Arquette, Robert Vaughn, Florence Henderson, Alan Thicke, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Prince and many more.

This year's Oscar broadcast will feature other musical performances as well. All of the nominees for Best Original Song will be performed, with Justin Timberlake performing "Can't Stop the Feeling!" from Trolls, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Auli'i Cravalho performing "How Far I'll Go" from Moana, Sting performing "The Empty Chair" from Jim: The James Foley Story and John Legend performing "Audition (The Fools Who Dream)" and "City of Stars" from La La Land.

Harold Wheeler is the conductor of the Oscars musical orchestra, which is heard frequently throughout the broadcast.

The 2017 Oscars will air live from coast to coast Sunday at 8:30 p.m. ET / 5:30 p.m. PT on ABC, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
