Amid the current allegations making headlines, another woman has come forward with her story, but her alleged abuser is shockingly not a man but a woman she once called a friend. Melanie Martinez, who was a contestant on the popular singing competition show The Voice, is being accused of raping and assaulting her former friend, Timothy Heller.

Heller claims that the singer "took advantage" of her during their routine sleepovers. Heller recounted that Martinez made sexual advances toward her, and after denying Martinez, the singer forcibly performed oral sex on Heller and then used a sex toy to rape her. Heller further elaborated that the attack took place for two nights in a row.

Heller wrote the story on her Twitter account, stating that it was hard for her to come forward against someone she "loved" but could no longer remain silent over the situation.

Martinez has responded to her former friend's claim, commenting that anything the two acted upon was consensual.

"I am horrified and saddened by the statements and story told by Timothy Heller. What she and I shared was a close friendship ... We tried to help each other. We both had pain in dealing with our individual demons ... She never said no to what we chose to do together. And although we parted ways, I am sending her love and light always," Martinez said on Instagram.

The Unofficial 'Voice' Champion

Martinez entered The Voice competition in 2012, when she performed a cover of Britney Spear's song "Toxic." Martinez made it to the top 6 before she was eliminated. Although the singer did not win the competition, she is one of the most popular contestants from the show and the only contestant to release a successful album.

Martinez's 2015 debut album, Cry Baby, reached number 6 on the Billboard 200 charts and was certified gold. Martinez is currently working on her second album that she hopes to release sometime next year.

The singer is the second woman in the entertainment industry to be accused of sexual misconduct. Singer Mariah Carey was accused of sexually harassing her former bodyguard who also claimed Carey owed him money.

Since September of this year, a plethora of allegations have been making headlines after an exposé was written about Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein. Others in the industry who are currently facing allegations include Kevin Spacey, Dustin Hoffman, Ed Westwick, and Danny Masterson.
