Charlie Heaton's 2018 didn't start off on a good note and now the young actor may be facing another devastating situation. Reportedly, Heaton ended things with his girlfriend, Natalia Dyer, who is also his co-star on the hit Netflix original show, Stranger Things.

Heaton's Dramatic Year

The couple allegedly broke up in February. Though it is assumed that the split was "amicable," reports are suggesting that Heaton ended things with Dyer unexpectly.

"Charlie broke it off with Natalia. She's heartbroken. She doesn't know what went wrong," an insider stated.

The couple officially went public in October 2016. Prior to his relationship with Dyer, Heaton was involved with musician Akiko Matsuura. The former couple have a son together, Archie, who was born in 2014.

Heaton, Dyer, And 'Stranger Things'

The two entertainers are currently filming for the third season of the popular Netflix show. Heaton portrays Jonathan Byers, the elder brother of the main character, Will Byers (Noach Schnapp), and son of Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder). Dyer portrays Nancy Wheeler, the elder sister of Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard).

The show's first season followed the mysterious disappearance of Will Byers amid supernatural events occurring around the town of Hawkins, Indiana, including the appearance of a girl, later named Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), who has psychokinetic abilities. Eleven helps Will's friends in their own search for him. The second season is set a year later and deals with the attempts of everyone in the story to return to normal, as well as the consequences that linger from the previous season.

Ironically enough, toward the end of the second season, Heaton and Dyer's characters began a relationship.

An Alleged Drug Possession

Heaton was detained at the Los Angeles International Airport for an alleged drug possession. The actor was not allowed back into the United States in October 2017 due to carrying cocaine in his luggage. The actor commented that the situation was "awful" and "embarrassing".

"It was hard. Everything happened so fast, and I hadn't come to terms with the fact that I was famous. When something steps in from the work you are doing and breaks into your personal life...you feel kind of vulnerable," the actor stated.

Due to his detainment, the actor was unable to attend the premiere for the second season of Stranger Things.

Dyer reportedly stood by Heaton during the whole ordeal.
