Actor David Labrava is opening up about the heartbreaking loss of his son. The Sons of Anarchy star took to Instagram to share the news.

An Unthinkable Situation For A Parent

The actor, who played Happy Lowman on the hit FX drama led by Charlie Hunnam, delivered the devastating news to fans via an emotional Instagram post. Tycho Spelis Chiusano was just 16 years old when he decided to take his own life.

Labrava revealed that his son was battling depression when he committed suicide.

Labrava captioned the post with a heartfelt message on how he never imagined that his own boy will commit suicide due to depression.

He also shared a selection of photos of him and his son on his Twitter page.

"He suffered from a depression we couldn't see because he was a happy young kid," added the actor.

He encouraged followers to speak to their loved ones constantly and, to pay attention to any signs of hardship, and to ensure they know how much support they have.

"I am broken," Labrava finished off the post.

Spreading Awareness In His Memory

The Sons of Anarchy star also shared the link to a GoFundMe page set up for Tycho because, as the site explains, his final wish was for all of his money to go to an organization helping people struggling with depression and bipolar disorder.

The description for it details how, on May 5, Tycho took his own life at just 16 years of age. It explains that he suffered in silence for years because he didn't know how to ask for help. He also emphasized how important it is to honor others as it is impossible what to see what a person is hiding behind a smile.

The page describes the young man as a beautiful, talented young soul with lots of friends, who was sensitive and always smiling. Much like Labrava's Instagram post, the page drives home the point about talking to and cherishing your loved ones. It also preaches a message of inclusion and understanding.
