'Euphoria's' Break Out Star Sydney Sweeney On Why She Completely Refuses To Date People In The Entertainment Industry
Sydney Sweeney does not date anyone in the entertainment industry.
Sweeney, the well-known star of the hit-show Euphoria makes a point not to date anyone within her industry. According to a BuzzFeed article, the actor maintains that she likes to keep the worlds separate. It is one way in which she can make sure that, while she is working, she can continue to be her full and authentic self.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Sweeney explained her logic behind the rule.
"I don't date people in the spotlight...I don't date actors or musicians or anyone in entertainment because I can just be normal Syd that way and it's easiest. I have a great support system...I have people who will battle for me and allow me to be on the pedestal and shine without making me feel like, 'Oh no, I'm shining too bright and I need to step back.'"

This sensible rule is one that many entertainers have adopted over time. However, Sweeney discussed in her interview that sensibility is not something that always remained as a constant in her romantic life. She used to rebel in her romance, in a teen-angst reaction to her parent's divorce.
"There was a period there where my parents tried to shield me as much as possible from the pain and the financial stress. They didn't explain things to me, and that made me angry...So I acted out, but not in the way you would think. I was a straight-A student in all AP classes. I was valedictorian. I never went to a high school party. I've never done drugs, to this day. The acting-out Syd tried to find love through boys. I got myself into sometimes really unfortunate and even dangerous relationships."
From this place, however, Sweeney has been able to find a way to better love, care for, and respect herself. "Being able to love yourself before allowing anyone else to love you - that's where true happiness and healthiness comes from."
