Shocking new accusations concerning Britney Spears' purported stay in a treatment center were made by the singer. She said instead of recovering from her depression in that treatment center, her condition has gotten worse, while her entire family just watched on and did nothing to help her.

Britney Spears, 40, has opened out about her 13-year conservatorship in a new interview. On Thursday, February 10, the singer claimed that she was transferred to a treatment center by her estranged family some time ago.

The four-month stay at the institution, Britney said, "amplified my despair by 100," and she accused her loved ones of detaining her "against my will."

She said while she has nothing against getting professional help, "arrogantly unasked for help" can be harmful, as reported by Hollywood Life. She said she only had depression, but she was treated so much worse than what the condition warranted. She said depression is not cured by taking people "out of their homes," but it was what happened to her.

The "Stronger" singer explained, "The people who worked for me stood at the doors saying I couldn't go anywhere... I honestly thought they were trying to kill me... cuz it seemed to me like some sick joke when I would call and say I'd been working here for two weeks... and can I have the keys to my car and go home ??? Their response ... you can come and go when we tell you we can !!! I need boundaries ... I need to know you can't just me leave me here everyday !!"

She then detailed how the center horrifically treated her, limiting her body's movements.

She said she was asking to leave, but she was kept in the treatment facility for an extended period of time. "I felt like it stunted my growth when I was there !! I could only use my upper body because I had to sit in a chair 8 hours a day and gave like 8 gallons of blood every week !!!," she said.

She is more riled at her family than at the center though.

She said her family "f***ing killed" her by leaving her there, and admitted she "was too nice" during the years her conservatorship so things happened the way they had as a result.

"I wanted to kick and scream all of it but my family sat back and acted as if I was not a big deal !!" she said. "The most damage that was done to me is the sick psychology of my own family convincing me that I was OK with what they did ... I deserved that!!," she added.

She shared that if she can return back in time and change something, she would "spit" at her family's faces. "I would be the first to admit I'm pretty messed up by all of it and haven't even come close to sharing all of what they did... it's honestly shocking but in time I think things will unfold in a bright way!!" she said.

Things have improved for Britney, despite the difficult experiences she went through in the past. In November of 2021, the conservatorship was formally terminated. Aside from that, she's broken off all ties to the Spears family, including her sister Jamie Lynn. Her fiance Sam Asghari is Britney's main focus, and she's ready to let go of the past.
