Johnny Depp will make sure he wins this time against Amber Heard that he added a high-profile attorney in his team.

Ahead of the long-awaited legal showdown between Depp and Heard, the actor prepared for his major weapon by hiring "Making a Murderer" attorney Kathleen Zellner. The legal representative has a respectable background in the legal industry as she is able to overturn wrongful convictions throughout her career.

Page Six confirmed the new development, and Zellner herself shared the same news in a statement.

"I have spent the last 30 plus years defending individuals who have been falsely accused of wrongdoing," she said. "I welcome adding Johnny Depp to that list and joining his dream team who share this view and have so effectively been advocating for him."

With Zellner on board, Depp now has a strong team including Adam Waldman and Benjamin Chew.

She already worked and represented people in the past years, including the subject of the Netflix series "Making a Murderer," Steven Avery.

What the Defamation Trial is All About

Depp's decision to arm himself with a respectable attorney came after losing his libel suit against The Sun. The article shared by the news outlet called him a wife-beater.

This time, Depp is suing his 35-year-old estranged wife over the 2019 op-ed she wrote for Washington Post. The "Aquaman" actress infamously wrote she was a victim of domestic violence.

Heard never mentioned the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor's name. However, Depp insisted that the article was about him since the actress accused him of causing her two black eyes, broken lip, and broken nose during a 2015 altercation in Los Angeles.

The Associated Press revealed that the actor lost his career because of the article, including his role in the award-winning film franchise "Pirates of the Caribbean."

The $50 million defamation lawsuit is part of the alleged damages Heard brought to him that made him a victim of false allegations. The actress reportedly did it to advance her career.

Meanwhile, Heard's team also made a massive move when they announced the deposition by video on January 26 featuring Erin Boerum. Boerum is a nurse who Heard has been accused of not doing her job properly since she made medical notes full of mistakes.
