The official trailer for the documentary Lucy and Desi is finally here!

The ever iconic Parks and Recreation and Saturday Night Live alumn, Amy Poehler, has directed a cinematic, closer look at this well-known comedy couple. This documentary comes just after the well-recieved and informative film Being the Ricardos. Whereas that was a historically accurate movie wherin actors were taking on the lives of the real people, Lucy and Desi uses old footage of the couple, voice overs, and interviews of those living today to give life and perspective to the power couple that entirely revolutionized the television landscape. Lucy herself gave women a place in the comedic world. According to an article on Deadline, the teaser trailer has been officially released today!

It is very appropriate that this trailer is coming out on Valentine's day because, as the trailer professes throughout, this is a story about love. It was the love between Lucy and Desi that drove them to make the show, that inspired Lucy to fight to have Desi on the show, that charge the show with as much lasting magic as it did. Lucille Ball's voice reads in the trailer saying, "I was madly in love with Desi. I never felt that way about anyone before." Of course, even in the face of this love, there were struggles- far more than were ever seen on the screen of the well reknown television show. It is no wonder that Lucy and Desi have inspired so much facination. They built something incredible, and, as we all know, there is always more that goes on behind the scenes.

Lucy and Desi will be streaming on Prime Video on March 4th.
