Britney Spears is refusing to budge when her mother, Lynne, requests that she pay her obligations.

Mathew Rosengart, Britney's lawyer, went to court on Tuesday, some five years after the pop star's conservatorship came to an end, to protest to his client being forced to pay Lynne's legal bills.

Page Six reported Lynne's attorney claimed in court that there is no legal authority to support the petition she filed last year, in which she sought more than $660,000 in legal costs from the estate of the "Toxic" singer. Lynne is suing the estate of the late artist.

Court records acquired by the site said that Mathew wrote, "Britney Spears has been the primary earner for her family for decades, providing for her whole family's needs."

Mathew also revealed that Britney Spears' father, Jamie Spears, had a "long history of mismanagement," which includes a bankruptcy filing prior to the singer's rise to stardom on the hit song "Womanizer."

For the period from February 2008 and September 2021, Jamie acted as conservator of his daughter's estate.

His daughter's estate paid him more than $6 million to serve as conservator, allowing him to gain "handsomely" from the performer's "extremely hard work." The 69-year-old father of three allegedly collected more than $6 million from his daughter's estate for his services.

Lynne Spears, on the other hand, has been living in a big and opulent mansion that her daughter owns for the last decade. Additionally, Britney allegedly paid for her electricity, telephone services, property taxes, insurance, pool maintenance, repairs, and upkeep, as well as landscaping, which the singer claims cost her $1.7 million.

Towards the conclusion of his argument, Mathew said that the 66-year-old mother was just a "third party" in her daughter's conservatorship case, and that there was no legal basis for putting the 40-year-old in the midst of the proceedings.

Britney's mother submitted a petition in November 2021 stating that Britney had consented to become an interested party in order to assist in the resolution of her conservatorship situation, which the singer said was abusive.

They provided services to Lynne, according to Lynne's attorney, including meetings, document preparation, court appearances, phone conversations, and even emails, before the conclusion of Britney's conservatorship, which was scheduled for later that month.

Although Britney and Lynne have had a rough relationship over the years, it has been complicated by the fact that the whole family is involved in the conservatorship.

According to a source who spoke to Page Six last year, the blonde beauty was enraged with her mother, mostly because she does not allow her to visit her house.

The hearing for Lynne's request that her daughter's legal bills be reimbursed will take place on April 6, according to court documents.
