Lady Gaga's dog walker's alleged shooter was mistakenly released from jail, multiple sources said.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department website shows, as of Wednesday, that the dog walker's shooter, James Howard Jackson, was freed from custody at 3:38 p.m. The reason listed on the website was his case was reportedly being dismissed.

Sources told NBC News and NBC Los Angeles said that the mistake occurred following a court appearance on Wednesday. The 18-year-old suspect remained at large on Thursday evening.

TODAY revealed that a replacement criminal case should have been filed after the case was dismissed. However, his records were not updated immediately, that he was released afterward.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department and the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office and the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office have not commented on the blunder yet. Rolling Stone also tried reaching the Los Angeles County Deputy District attorney, Michele Hanisee, on the case but the attempt was unsuccessful.

Before his release, Jackson had been staying in custody for nearly a year and was being held on more than $3 million bail.

Dognapping Incident Was Terrifying, Says Lady Gaga's Dog walker

The recent development came a month after Lady Gaga's former dog walker, Ryan Fischer, dropped more details about the February 2021 incident.

In the transcript of his testimony on October 26 at the Los Angeles County Grand Jury, the dog walker revealed that 19-year-old James Jackson choked him. The event reportedly caused him to hit the suspect with a bottle of champagne he had just purchased nearby the singer's house.

"The dog screamed at me, and I reached for him, and then the guy, the man with the gun, shot me as I was reaching," Fischer said, as quoted by Rolling Stone. "I immediately tried to call for help but realized I was bleeding out of my lung and that I was losing more and more air quickly."

Fischer added that he struggled while he was recovering from the gunshot. For what it's worth, he spent a week at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center before returning two days later after his lung collapsed. The top third and bottom portions of his organ were reportedly cut surgically.

Although it has already been a year, Fischer purportedly still suffers from breathing issues and nerve damage.

The suspects have since been charged with murder, and the authorities first identified them through a thorough probe in the surveillance video of the Nissan Sentra's license plate found at a nearby 7-Eleven. CBS Morning also released a home security footage of the attack where he could be heard screaming as he asked for help.
