Cynthia Erivo is giving the world an inside scoop on how much green they can expect to see in the upcoming Wicked movie.

The hit musical, composed by Stephen Schwartzand based on the book by Gregory Maguire, is set to be hitting the big screen scoon. Musical theatre fans have been crying out for a film adaptation of Wicked for years, and now it is finally upon us. Ariana Grande will be playing Glinda, and Cynthia Erivo will be taking on the leading Wicked Witch of the West role Elphaba.

According to an article with People, there is still a lot of discussion surrounding creative decisions in the film. One of the key plot points, for example is that the Wicked Witch of the West has green skin. The question the team is seeking to answer now, however is just how green are they going to go.

One thing that is known for certain is that the green will be real. It will not be CGI.

Erivo shared:

"[Director Jon M. Chu] asked me at one point if I wanted to be actually green or CGI green, and I was like, 'I'd like to actually be green because I'm not sure that the CGI will sit the way you need it to sit.'

I want it to still feel like it's my skin...I will feel like I'm playing this character, as opposed to looking at myself as I am now, and then they fill in the green...I think it will help me perform, because I will know when I look at my hands, I'll see someone who is green."

We are so excited to know the care and dedication that Erivo is putting into building this character. She and her co-star Grande have actually been meeting up frequently, prior to filming, in order to build a closer relationship.

"We know that it's a sisterhood and we want to be ready and prepared to be there for one another...So it's that, and Jon is amazing so we're just sort of waiting to start. We're ready to rehearse and get into it."

We can't wait to see this epic film when it is up on the big screen!
