Chase Stokes' "Outer Banks" stand-in, Alexander "AJ" Jennings, died. He was only 22.

Amid the ongoing filming of "Outer Banks" season 3, the series faced a tragic event after Jennings untimely died in North Charleston, South Carolina.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office shared a press release, saying that the cast/staff was killed in a hit-and-run incident on Tuesday.

As reported by E! News, investigators confirmed that Jennings was the male pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle before 2:30 a.m. on that day while walking on the road. He was then hit by another vehicle.

Both drivers fled the scene.

Responders still managed to rush Jennings to a nearby hospital, but he eventually died due to the injuries he sustained.

CCSO's Traffic Services Unit is currently investigating the incident, saying that no charges have been filed yet.

Jennings' employer, Kimmie Stewart Casting, released a statement on its Facebook account in which it confirmed the cast member died.
