Squid Game continues to make history.

When Squid Game came to Netflix, it broke records we did not even know existed. It quickly became the most watched show in the world.

Now, in light of today's announcement of the 74th annual Emmy Award nominations, the show continues to solidify itself in the ranks of television history. It was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, and while this is a great accomplishment in and of itself, it is also making history another way: It is the first ever non-English-speaking show to be nominated in that category.

While this is a beautiful testament to the brilliant product that is Squid Game, this is not the only category that the exceptional show was nominated in.

On the contrary, the sensational television series was nominated for thirteen other awards. This is just over half the nominations of the most nominated show of the year, Succession. (Succession received an overwhelming twenty-five nominations.)

The volume of nominations received by Squid Game alongside this historic achievement is a win in itself.

This is not the first slate of nominations that Squid Game has received. Within the last year, the show has also been nominated for SAG Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and Television Critics Association Awards. If the path that the show has taken so far is any indication, it is not too far-fetched to hedge your bets on this unquestionably historic show.

We will be seriouslysurprised if they walk away from this years ceremony without carrying at a few Emmy Awards home.
