Monday night, August 28th, viewers of the second episode of House of the Dragon were "disgusted" by what they saw. While the "Game of Thrones" franchise has always been known for its gore and shocking scenes, some viewers believe this one take the cake.

Fans were definitely surprised by scenes that aired during yesterday night's episode of the prequel to "Game of Thrones." Six months after the deaths of his wife, Queen Aemma Arryn, and their young son, King Viserys was weighing his options and feeling pushed to remarry.

Lord Corlys Velaryon, upon learning that the King is searching for a new wife, entered his 12-year-old daughter Laena into the competition. Lord Corlys, who is married to the King's cousin Princess Rhaenys, presents the monarch to his adolescent daughter and suggests that she would make a perfect successor to the throne.

Fans were enraged by the child marriage plot, and some said this also involves incest in a way. And while Game of Thrones featured horrible scenes of rape, torture, and incest, it appears that Viserys's proposal also outraged fans, as many took to social media to express their displeasure over the significant age gap between the couple.

One wrote: "I know #HouseOfTheDragonHBO is based on a period of time centuries ago but this possibly arranged marriage with a child is disgusting." "I felt sick to my stomach watching that guy try to sell off his 12 year old daughter. #HouseoftheDragon," claimed another.

Many said that the show certainly has never been shy about shocking people with gruesome plots, but marrying a 12-year-old is in a whole new level of disgusting.

Nova Fouellis' portrayal of Laena in House of Dragon has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics who have watched it. This adds to the fury over what is happening to her role.

Even though only two episodes of House of the Dragon have aired, the show has already been renewed for a second season.

Since then, the show's viewership has increased to 20 million, making it HBO's largest ever debut audience.

The drama is based on the novel "Fire & Blood" by George R.R. Martin and recounts the emergence of the Targaryen line around 200 years before "Game of Thrones."

Martin was recently a guest on The History of Westeros podcast (via PopCulture) and said he has more "influence" but no "control" over the prequel series. "Hollywood will give you money a lot easier than they'll give you creative control," Martin said with a laugh.

"You can go to negotiations and say 'Yes, I will thank you for paying me 8 million dollars, but I would like creative control as well.' And they will say, 'How about 10 million?' They would rather give millions of dollars than any creative control."

He revealed that what he has is more on a creative impact, but that depends primarily on the nature of his connection with the showrunners and others. He said that as the author of the source material, he certainly can make his case and argue.

But it depends on whether the showrunners will ultimately listen or whether or not he can be good at persuading them. He lacks the authority to hire or terminate employees, which limits his power to "dictate" how the show or episodes will turn out.
