Comedian Trevor Noah reveals his exit from "The Daily Show" after 7 years as a mainstay and wants to focus on this next career move.

Trevor Noah's acting career dates back to as early as 2002 in a soap opera. He eventually rose to prominence during his hosting debut in the educational television program. His breakthrough paved the way for him to become the first South African stand-up comedian to appear on the late-night talk show, "The Tonight Show" in January 2012.

However, in a recent video statement on the official "The Daily Show" Twitter account, the 7-year mainstay host announces his departure from the show. Following the announcement, he recalls his memorable experiences on the show and expresses that "it's time" for him to retire from "The Daily Show".

"I realized that after that seven years, my time is up, but in the most beautiful way. Honestly. I've loved hosting the show. It's been one of my greatest challenges. It's been one of my greatest joys." Noah expressed. "I have loved trying to figure out how to make people laugh, even when the stories are particularly shitty on the worst days. You know, we've laughed together, we've cried together. But after seven years, I feel like it's time."

Following the announcement, a representative from "The Daily Show"s cable channel, "Comedy Central", shares their gratitude for Trevor's seven years as their host.

"We are grateful to Trevor for our amazing partnership over the past seven years. With no timetable for his departure, we're working together on next steps." The representative expressed. "As we look ahead, we're excited for the next chapter in the 25+ year history of 'The Daily Show' as it continues to redefine culture through sharp and hilarious social commentary, helping audiences make sense of the world around them."

What Will Trevor Do Next?

Additionally, the 38-year-old host expressed that his decision to retire from "The Daily Show" was influenced by his isolation during the pandemic. According to Trevor, he will be focusing on standup comedy following his 7-year hosting gig on the late-night talk show.

"I spent two years in my apartment [during Covid], not on the road," Noah stated in his announcement. "Standup was done, and when I got back out there again, I realised that there's another part of my life that I want to carry on exploring."

Aside from his career as a host and comedian, the 38-year-old star has also appeared in films, including titles like "Black Panther", "Coming 2 America", and TV series, "American Vandal".
