Jodie Foster is in hot water following her controversial remark about Gen Z.

In a recent interview with the Guardian, the "Silence of the Lambs" actress got candid about how she felt about Generation Z. For her, their attitude toward work seemed difficult to understand, and she called them "really annoying" outright.

"They're really annoying, especially in the workplace," Foster joked in her interview with the outlet.

"They're like: 'Nah, I'm not feeling it today, I'm gonna come in at 10.30 am.' Or in emails, I'll tell them: this is all grammatically incorrect, did you not check your spelling? And they're like: 'Why would I do that, isn't that kind of limiting?'"

Foster's words raised several eyebrows, with some calling her "bitter." Others suggested that she retire.

"Boomers always bitter," one commented with a sneezing face emoji. Another added, "Boomers like to be stuck in the past."

"These oldies complain a lot ....I smell jealousy and fear of being replaced," a third person opined.

"Maybe she should retire so Genz will stop bothering her," another commented. A different user shared the same sentiment, writing, "Then retire."

Meanwhile, several netizens gave Foster the benefit of the doubt. They tried to understand where she was coming from, citing the "generation gap." Others agreed with the "Taxi Driver" star.

"Isn't it possible that Jodie Foster's frustration with Gen Z's work style is a result of a generation gap, and perhaps there's value in their unconventional approach to work??" one wrote.

"I need to know who she is working with because if you're working with phenomenal Hollywood actresses and talking like this," another user commented. "They have to be nepo babies, right? I don't understand being in a position like this and not holding it with both hands with respect."

"Totally agree with Jodie Foster in this one," someone else said

"It all comes down to work ethic, and a lot of teenagers (not all) just don't have it. It's a victim mentality, shortcut taking, 'I need it now,' glass half empty, 'the world will bend to me' mindset. the sooner those people stop denying it, the sooner they can make the choice to catch up to the rest of the world because we're not slowing down," a fourth person opined.

"I'm Gen Z, and I have totally met these kinds of coworkers, lol some better than others," a different netizen wrote.

Foster has arguably earned the right to air her sentiment about the young actors, per The Guardian. She is an award-winning actress known for her portrayals of misfit characters set against intimidating challenges. She earned two Academy Awards for Best Actress for portraying a rape victim in "The Accused" (1988) and Clarice Starling in "The Silence of the Lambs" (1991).

Boomers are people born between 1946 and 1964, while Gen Z are those born between 1997 and 2012. According to Empxtrack, a cloud-based HR software for Human Resource and Employee Management, Gen Z are often disregarded as " lazy and laid back due to their desire to achieve a good work-life balance." But that's reportedly a misconception because they are focused and "extremely hardworking."
