More details about David Gail's death have come to light days after his passing made headlines.

Gail was among the celebrities who passed away last week. He was 58. In a statement released by his family, the "Beverly Hills, 90210" alum reportedly died due to complications from a sudden cardiac arrest.

Gail was best known for portraying Brenda Walsh's (Shannen Doherty) fiancé, Stuart Carson, in the American TV drama series.

Emergency personnel reportedly found Gail unresponsive and performed CPR and defibrillation to revive him. However, their efforts were unsuccessful, so he was put on life support several days before he was pronounced dead on Jan. 16.

"The family has no reason to suspect the cause of his death was anything but heart failure," Gail's family rep said in a statement released to E! News. "David will be remembered for his love of acting and his absolute passion and dedication to his friends and family. He possessed a unique quality that made everyone feel special in his presence."

Gail's cause of death was revealed days after TMZ published a report claiming that police suspected a fatal drug overdose. The officers were reportedly waiting for a toxicology test to determine the official cause of death. However, it was unclear what type of substance was on their radar.

The late actor's mom released a separate statement acknowledging the love and support they received following his passing.

"We are extremely touched by the outpouring of love from David's dedicated fans and colleagues. We are grateful for all the support received during this very difficult time," his mom said.

Gail's fans and co-actors took to social media to pay tribute to him. Several expressed their love for the late celebrity and shared how he touched their lives.

"We love you David Gail/Stuart Carson ... one of the best guest stars ever on 'Beverly Hills, 90210,'" one wrote.

"So saddened to learn of the passing of my former cast mate David Gail. He was a good guy, a pleasure to be around, and I always thought he was a real talent. Sincere condolences to all his loved ones. Rest in Peace. Flight of Angels. #RIP #DavidGail #PortCharles," Jon Lindstrom tweeted.

Gail's sister, Katie Colmenares, was the first to share the news about his death. In a post on Instagram, she shared a snap of them hugging, and in the caption, she called him her "wingman" and "best friend."

"There's barely been even a day in my life when you were not with me by my side, always my wingman, always my best friend ready to face anything and anyone w[ith] me," she wrote in the caption.

"[T]he bears will never be the same, but I will hold you so tight every day in my heart, you gorgeous, loving, amazing, fierce human being. [M]issing you every second of every day forever. [T]here will never be another."
