The sheriff's office of Kentucky is investigating after local Dairy Queen employees claim they were forced to eat ice cream contaminated with cleaning solution.

WKYT reported that parents were left concerned after the alleged incident happened at work on a Friday night.

"Oh, I was livid. I was livid," parent Angela Patton told the news outlet.

Her 17-year-old daughter was called into work for a mandatory team meeting. Her daughter claimed the team was told they were going to be eating ice cream that was contaminated with cleaning solution.

"They were told by the manager that whether or not they liked chocolate ice cream, they were going to eat it today," Patton claimed.

Patton told the news outlet that many of the involved employees were minors, including her daughter. She and several others quit after the alleged incident.

"Some of the kids had complained that they had a burning sensation when they swallowed the ice cream," Patton alleged. She also stated some employees had to be taken to the emergency room for treatment.

According to Business Insider, the manager of the Campton Dairy Queen told workers they hadn't cleaned the ice cream machine properly, so they would be served the contaminated ice cream as a punishment.

Franchise owner Steve Caudill responded to the claims in a statement to WKYT, stating, "The safety of our fans and crew members is our top priority."

"When we received complaints, we immediately began an investigation, which is ongoing. We are reviewing our processes and covering expenses for crew members involved. The manager involved is no longer employed at our restaurant," the statement continued. "Know that we contacted local law enforcement to assist and we are fully cooperating with their investigation."

"We still have multiple people coming in to give statements, but as of now, it's still under investigation," Deputy Elijah Banks stated.

To date, no charges have been filed. However, Patton wants to see that change in the near future.

"I do have a meeting scheduled with a lawyer," she said. "What they've done is not right."
