Matt Damon has joined Christophar Nolan's Interstellar in a small role, and he is also looking to make his directorial debut with The Foreigner, according to an Indiewire report.

While details about the nature of the role he will be playing in the film have not been disclosed, he is expected to begin shooting on the project for two weeks in Iceland, the entire shoot for the film has been scheduled for four months.

Damon has also chosen the project he would like to make his directorial debut with. He has picked the screenplay for a A Murder Foretold, which has been penned by Argo's screenwriter Chris Terrio. The screenplay is based on David Gran's 2008 New Yorker artice which tells the true story about Rodrigo Marzano, an attorney who was murdered in the midst of the excalating violence in Guatemala in 2009. Marzano left behind a video tape which implicated the President, his family, and other close aides in his killing. A special prosecutor investigates the entire affair to reveal the shocking truth behind the man's murder. The project already has a title, The Foreigner, and is being produced by Paramount and Indian Paintbrush under Steve Zaillan's Film Rites production banner.

In other related news, Damon endorsed his friend Ben Affleck's playing Batman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel, in an interview with the Times of India.

"I think it will be great. It will be terrific. I know there are a lot of people grousing on the Internet. I just think it's kind of funny. You know, he's not playing King Lear. It's Batman!" Damon said. "Certainly within his skill set. If anybody saw Argo or The Town, and all the work he's been doing lately, it's way more nuanced and interesting and way more difficult than Batman!"
