Adam Levine's views on marriage changed when he began dating model Behati Prinsloo in 2012.

The Voice coach, 35, and the Victoria's Secret Angel, 24, got engaged in July after dating on-and-off for a year. Levine visited The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Monday, Oct. 28, and the late night talk show host teased the Maroon 5 lead singer about previously swearing off the idea of marriage.

"I remember talking to you one time, you telling me you were never going to get married, and now you're engaged," Leno said. "Tell me what happened here."

Levine laughed and replied, "Famous last words: 'I'll never get married.' You know, I still don't think you have to get married, unless you meet someone that makes you want to marry them. And then you marry them and it's wonderful."

He and Prinsloo have yet to set a wedding date -- "We're working on it" -- and for now are focusing on celebrating Halloween.

"We're gonna do Eyes Wide Shut, the kind of creepy masquerade thing," Levine said, referring to the erotic thriller starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.  "It's gonna be really creepy."

When asked about marriage during a June interview with Oprah Winfrey on Oprah's Next Chapter, Levine admitted that he would like to walk down the altar "at some point."

"I want to probably be married at some point," the Love Somebody singer said. "I don't feel pressure to get married. I think that when it's time, it's going to be obvious and I'm going to do it and I'm going to really enjoy it."

"I'm a fan of marriage," he added. "People think that I keep pooh-poohing marriage, but I love it."

Later on in his interview with Leno, Levine talked about his worst date ever.
