Season 2 of The Americans will feature Elizabeth and Philip coming back together after drifting apart through season 1. The Americans executive producers Joe Weisberg and Joel Field spoke with TV Guide this week about the upcoming premiere and season 2 as a whole.

"At the end of Season 1, Elizabeth said to come home. Not surprisingly, he's coming home," said Weisberg. "That indicates accurately that the marriage is going to be a little more stable, but that doesn't mean the kids are going to be. When you're married and have kids, that's always trouble. There's going to be a focus on the family and trying to pull this family together just as their daughter is starting to wonder."

Premiere Episode Features Elizabeth Making Mission Go Wrong After Injury?

Elizabeth and Philip's daughter Paige (Holly Taylor) became very suspicious of her parents at the end of season 1. While she did not necessarily suspect that her parents were KGB spies, she knew that something was up.

Fields said that she does not exactly uncover the truth about her parents in season 2, but the question becomes what she will find as she continues to spy on them herself.

The new season will feature the return of Claudia (Margo Martindale), the KGB supervisor who was shipped back to the Soviet Union at the end of season 1. Weisberg revealed that Claudia's return will be an emotional one.

The Americans season 2 premieres Wednesday at 10 p.m. on FX.
