The very first image of Ben Affleck as Batman has been revealed, providing an intriguing teaser for Man of Steel 2.

Man of Steel 2 director Zack Snyder posted a new photo on his Twitter account Tuesday feature Affleck as Batman standing in front of the new Batmobile.

"I shot this with my @Leica_Camera M Monochrom. #Batman #Batmobile #Gotham," he tweeted.

The most interesting part of the photo is the Batsuit itself. The suit features shorter ears than usual as well as veins running down the torso. The torso portion of the suit looks like it has abs, though no nipples are seen. Snyder and company chose to shy away from the now infamous nipple suit from Batman & Robin.

Affleck as Batman is looking downward in a very serious pose. The Batmobile next to him is also a bit of a departure from the Chris Nolan Dark Knight franchise, bringing it back to a classic, hot rod type of look.

The image itself is quite dark so it's hard to make out a lot of the details, but BadassDigest posted the photo with everything lightened a bit, revealing more of the suit. The suit features a nifty utility belt as well as spiked gloves.

With the image of Batman and the Batmobile now out in the open, it seems that production is about to begin on the film. The film's production has been delayed for several months due to actor obligations to other films.

Man of Steel 2, a.k.a. Batman vs. Superman is scheduled for release in theaters on May 6, 2016.
