Katie Holmes has lived in New York City for several months now, and she got the season's first dose of wintry weather this week as she braved the snow to make it to her Broadway show, "Dead Accounts."

Holmes walked through the snow and slush as she made her way to the theater for a special preview of the show, a new comedy written by "Smash" creator Theresa Rebeck.

But she was prepared just like any New Yorker would be, insulating herself in fluffly white earmuffs, a thick navy blue coat, knit sweater and black leggings. She accessorized the look with sunglasses, a pair of black boots from Rag & Bone and a Derek Lam handbag. And, of course, she topped it all off with a piping hot cup of coffee to combat the chill in the air.

The performance itself went well. The show drew a standing ovation from the crowd after its end, and Holmes received praise for her role. In particular, she excelled in a monologue about the greed on Wall Street and when a faulty prop malfunctioned but Holmes took it in stride.

"'Holmes drew applause on several occasions - notably, when a telephone she was using in one scene broke, and she deftly fixed it without skipping a beat, even punctuating her dialogue by slapping the broken piece back into place," The Daily Mail reported.

"Dead Accounts" also stars Judy Greer, Jayne Houdyshell and Norbert Leo Butz, who is a two-time winner of the Tony Award for Best Actor. The play officially opens to the public on Nov. 29, and until then the cast will be working on preview performances to sort out last-minute details and perfect their performance.
