Kim Kardashian got herself into trouble this week when she elicited death threats after tweeting about conflict in the Middle East, but now the reality star is traveling there to learn more and try to make a difference.

The 32-year-old star of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" angered many of her followers on the social network after she posted a couple political tweets regarding conflict in the Middle East.

Kardashian tweeted that she was "praying for everyone in Israel," and later on she wrote that she was "praying for everyone in Palestine and across the world," according to a report from USA Today.

Her words drew a firestorm of negative comments from some followers, including death threats. Twitter users sent messages to Kardashian with angry comments like, "You are a disgrace to your people and your ancestors, educate yourself" and "further enhancing your reputation as a dumb porn star." Then the more violent messages started rolling in, including remarks like, "please just kill yourself now as everyone clearly hates you after this tweet" and "i hope kanye west is gonnna rape ur f----- mouth till u dieeee."

But TMZ reported Tuesday that Kardashian is planning a trip to Kuwait and Bahrain to make appearances at several Millions of Milkshakes locations, and she's planning to learn more about that region's political issues while she's there.

"Kim wants to be as informed as possible ... so she can use her celebrity to help those in need and raise awareness about important issues in the area," a source said.

TMZ also reported that Kardashian has set up meetings with local leaders in both countries to discuss the region's conflicts further.

Kardashian took to her Celebuzz page after the Twitter controversy to explain her stance to fans.

"I want to own up to and explain that earlier today I sent out two tweets about saying prayers for the people in Palestine and Israel and after hearing from my followers, I decided to take down the tweets because I realized that some people were offended and hurt by what I said, and for that I apologize," Kardashian wrote. "I should have pointed out my intentions behind these tweets when I posted them. The fact is that regardless of religion and political beliefs, there are countless innocent people involved who didnt choose this, and I pray for all of them and also for a resolution. I also pray for all the other people around the world who are caught in similar crossfires."
