Sorry, Star Trek fans, wherever the Enterprise is heading next, there will be no Klingons.

'Guardians Of The Galaxy 2' Cast: Has Marvel Found Star-Lord's Father? 'Hateful Eight' Actor Tops The List

The first trailer for Star Trek Beyond dropped on Monday, and the brief look at this summer's interstellar adventure still has fans pondering one super massive secret - what character will Idris Elba play?

Trekkies have long posited that the Luther star will serve as an ingress into the world of Klingons. According to director Justin Lin, this is not the case.

'The 100' Season 3: Clarke Has Her Eye On A New Girl, What Will Become Of Clexa?

"No, [Idris Elba] is not a Klingon," Lin told The Huffington Post. "I think you know it's been a great -- Trek's been around for 50 years, Klingons are a big part of Trek. When I signed on, I just felt like there was more to this than Klingons. I think there are other species we can explore, so I can safely tell you that there's no Klingon to be had in this chapter."

Is Lin merely echoing JJ Abrams' 2013 claims that Benedict Cumberbatch would not become Khan, even though he was the cunning villain all along? We'll have to wait until July to find out.
