Rowdy Rebel is opening up from incarceration and how he's staying in touch with Bobby Shmurda.

The guys were arrested in December 2014 along with other members from GS9 on claims involving drugs and weapons. In a recent interview with XXL Mag on Tuesday, Rowdy mentioned that he and the rapper will have some communication here and there as they await their fate on what comes next in the case.

"Sometimes I'll call and he'll be on the phone and we'll merge the call or I'll see him in court and we'll talk," Rowdy said. "Or I'll write him a letter and he'll write me back."

At this point, the two seem hopeful for what's to come as they give each other positive remarks.

"We encourage each other," Rowdy said. "Even though he's younger than me, he's like my little big brother. He's always the one giving me advice, encouraging me to stay focused. He's got a good head on his shoulders. Unfortunately, we just got caught up. But we'll be back soon, we'll definitely be back."

One way that Rowdy is keeping busy is writing new songs, which he suspects could turn into some good music if he gets released.

"I always write down a couple hooks, couple verses when I hear a good beat," he said. "But I don't really want to write full songs because I don't know my situation as far as when I'll be home. I know it ain't gonna be forever, it ain't gonna be too long, but I don't want to write a song and it's not up to date with what's going on in reality. But I know once I get home, it's like riding a bike- once you know how to do this, it's easy."
