The God of Thunder is back at his day job. Filming for Thor: Ragnarok is officially underway in Australia.

Asgardian demigods and green rage monsters were in short supply during Captain America: Civil War, but Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and the Hulk/Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) will get their chance to shine next November. Age of Ultron gave the Norseman a glimpse at a problematic future, and now it's time for Thor to search the Nine realms for a solution.

"Best of luck to [director] Taika Waititi and the whole cast and crew of #ThorRagnarok," Marvel co-president Louis D'Esposito tweeted on Monday. "July 4 they started filming. Australia is in the future."

Waititi responded with the first photo from set, showing a series of empty chairs ready and waiting for the film's busy producers and writers.

Ragnarok will bring a host of new actors into the MCU, including Cate Blanchett (the Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies, Carol) as the villainous Hela, Tessa Thompson (Creed, Selma) as the heroic Valkyrie, Karl Urban (Almost Human, Star Trek Into Darkness, Dredd) as Skurge the Executioner, and Jeff Goldblum (Independence Day: Resurgence, Jurassic Park) as the Grandmaster.

"It's going to be, perhaps, as totally different from the two prior Thor movies as Winter Soldier was from the first Captain America," Marvel's Kevin Feige said, according to Blastr. "We want to take it to new places, we've got new characters that will show how big we're swinging on this. And we have a Hulk."
