Marvel Movies Coming Soon? Hulk, Ant-Man, and Doctor Strange May Be Included in Studios' Phase Three
While the cinematic world is only just seeing the films of Marvel Studios phase two slate hit theatres, the franchise is already looking forward to phase three.
Marvel has bookended its phases with The Avengers films, and phase two will wrap with the release of Avengers 2 in 2015. However, rumors have already started to spread as fans try to determine what comic book adaptation will hit the big screen next.
As of right now, the studio only knows of one movie that is a definite contender. Writer and director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead) has been tossing around the possibility of an Ant-Man film since 2006, according to EW. Now the idea has been given a timetable with a release date of November 2015.
EW reports that there is a high possibility of seeing Doctor Strange in theatres, a film that would movie the studio into a more magic based. Another possibility includes a stand-alone Hulk movie. While this may not have had good reception in the past, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told EW that Mark Ruffalo's portrayal of the angry, green character was based on his interactions with humans and the fact that he made him more lovable by the audience.
"I'd say 99 percent of our time right now is purely spent on Phase Two," Feige stated, according to EW. "It's five colossally giant motion pictures that we have to produce. So that's taking up the time. But within the next year or so we'll start the advanced planning for post-Avengers 2."
