Why did Tom Cruise skip attending a Scientology event last year? It is well-known that actor Tom Cruise is a devout follower of Scientology but his absence at the recent opening of San Diego super center has set tongues wagging. Has the actor fallen out with the controversial religion? One does not know but hopes that ex-wife Katie Holmes will be able to shed light.
Tom Cruise did not attend the San Diego event of the Church of Scientology that was about the grand opening of the Church's new center. The high-profile event had generated a lot of hype and thus, the absence of the actor has created a stir in the media with many saying that the actor has decided to leave the Church.
However, Leah Remini, a former Scientologist, has denied the speculations and confirmed that Cruise is fully dedicated and loyal to his religion. She said that Tom and all Scientologists are taught to believe that people like her are literally the devil and that they mean them harm, reports Vulture.
On the other hand, Katie Holmes, ex-wife of the actor, who was also into Scientology, may be able to shed light on the religion. Her five-year contract that barred her from speaking about the religion is finally ending in 2017.
As of now, she is busy in her directorial venture All We Had and said that she has chosen a female protagonist because she has been surrounded by many women all her life, claims The New York Timesx.
In a phone interview, the 37-year-old actress said that she feels comfortable with telling female relationship stories. Talking about her daughter Suri, Holmes said that she is the inspiration behind everything and this is why she gave a special thanks to her after the movie was made. She wants Suri to know how important she is.
As for the experience behind the camera, she said that it was empowering and she knew it that it was going to be very intense. Katie Holmes had her acting and directing notes in hand and on the first day, she just directed but on the second day, she felt anxious. Still, she went for it and admitted that one fumbles and makes mistakes.
