Bill Cosby's daughter Ensa Cosby died on Friday, Feb. 23 in Massachusetts. The 44-year-old succumbed to a kidney failure, according to Bill Cosby's spokesperson.

Death Due To Renal Disease

Ensa had a history of medical issues and was possibly on the waitlist for a kidney transplant.

The embattled comedian's spokesperson confirmed her cause of death as renal or kidney failure in a statement posted on the comedian's social media accounts.

Ensa Was A Supportive Daughter

Ensa, who was the second-youngest child of the comedian's five children, rushed to her father's defense last year after multiple women accused him of sexual assault.

Last year, Ensa and her older sister, Erinn, made an appearance on the popular radio show, The Breakfast Club, and used the opportunity to proclaim The Cosby Show star's innocence in the wake of the multiple rape allegations against him.

"The accusations against my father have been one-sided since the beginning, and when he tried to defend himself he was sued in civil court," Ensa said at the time. "I strongly believe my father is innocent of the crimes alleged against him and I believe that racism has played a big role in all aspects of this scandal."

As of today, 60 women have come forward with allegations of rape and sexual assault against the 80-year-old, with the earliest incident allegedly taking place in the mid-60s.

Bill Cosby is expected to make an appearance in a Pennsylvania court next week for a hearing before his retrial, which has been set for April 2.

Bill Cosby Loses Second Child

Ensa isn't the first child that Bill Cosby has lost. The entertainer's son, Ennis Cosby, was a victim of gun violence in the late 90s.

Ennis, who was Bill Cosby's third child and his only son, was fatally shot in 1997 by an 18-year-old Ukrainian immigrant during a failed robbery attempt.

Ennis, who was on his way to visit a friend in Los Angeles, pulled over on the side of the Interstate 405 to change a busted tire when he was shot in the head. He was 27 years old and was pursuing his doctorate degree at Columbia University at the time of his death.

The killer, Mikhail Markhasev, was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole.
