R. Kelly’s daughter has spoken out about the accusations that her father has taken advantage of underaged girls. The singer has been making headlines for his alleged actions.

R. Kelly's Daughter Speaks Up

TMZ caught up Joann who expressed her thoughts on her father being accused of sexual misconduct among other things.

“It’s hard,” said Joann Kelly. “I feel terrible.”

“I don’t have much of a comment,” added Joann, who also goes by her artist name Buku. “It’s very close to my heart. It’s just kind of hard because it’s family matters, you know?”

She said it’s a difficult topic that she has tried to steer clear away from talking about. She added that they will still deal with the matter and one another as a family.

This is the first time that she addressed rumors that her dad not only sexually assaults girls and women, but that he has a sex pad where he brainwashes, manipulates, and keeps women against their will.

A History of Sexual Assault Accusations Against R. Kelly

While the latest allegations date to just earlier this month, he has been facing similar accusations for more than two decades. As for the earliest, rumors spread he married late R&B singer Aaliyah in May 1994 when she was only 15. R. Kelly was 28.

The two worked together as he produced her first album and reportedly had a romantic relationship. Aaliyah was said to have lied and claimed she was 18. The marriage ended in February 1995.

While he went on to marry his former background dancer Andrea Kelly in 1996, a woman named Tiffany Hawkins accused him of physically abusing her when they were together for three years. She was 15 at the time when R. Kelly allegedly started a romantic relationship with her.

Accusations against Kelly continued in 2002 when a nearly 30-minute video of him reportedly hooking up with a 14-year-old had surfaced. Kelly insisted that he was innocent.

Still, he was charged with 21 counts of child pornography that same year when authorities came across 12 photos of R. Kelly with a teenage girl in his Florida home. She was said to be the same girl from the now infamous tape. The charges were later dropped because of “lack of probable cause for the search warrants.”

Four years later, he went to trial for the charges surrounding the video, however, he was found not guilty.

The accusations against Kelly resurfaced in July 2017 when a handful of women had come forward and said Kelly sexually assaulted them and kept women in a “sex dungeon” in his home.

The singer has maintained his innocence throughout all of the allegations.
