Leighton Meester is coming to the big screen in the upcoming film The Weekend Away, and the official trailer was just released.

According to its official IMDb description, The Weekend Away based on a novel by Sarah Alderson of the same title - follows "a weekend getaway to Croatia that goes awry when a woman is accused of killing her best friend. As she attempts to clear her name and uncover the truth, her efforts unearth a painful secret."

It sounds thrilling already!

Meester plays Beth, the woman who is accused of murdering her best friend; Christina Wolfe plays the woman who was killed. From this trailer, we are already certain that this dramatic story will have us on the edge of our seats. As the text that runs through the video taunts us, we are immediately intrigued by the central question: "Miles from home, where do you turn? Who can you trust?"

We are so excited to find out!

Leighton Meester has come a long way from her iconically memorable start on the hit teen drama Gossip Girl. She made the character Blair Waldorf a memorable icon, again playing a character that was originally written within the confines of a book. Her time on Gossip Girl forced Meester to confront the question in her personal life about who she could trust - something that we see reflected in this trailer.

As he told Glamour back in 2018:

"Because of the success of that show, I was put in a place where that journey was sped up. I had to figure it out quickly and with not a completely developed mind to discern between what's real and what's not, who I can trust and who I can't. I got really lucky and was able to very early on find and stay friends with people who are true."

We can't wait to see Meester's growth and work in The Weekend Away, coming to Netflix March 3.
