Despite some of the restrictions in most parts of the United States being lifted down or not as severe as before, many people are still testing positive for COVID-19, and former president Barack Obama is not an exception.

Taking to his official Twitter account, the 60-year-old political figure revealed he tested positive for the virus. He also shared he's currently experiencing a scratchy throat for a few days, but he feels fine.

Obama then took the opportunity to promote the vaccines, saying he and his wife, Michelle, are boosted, and she tested negative for the virus.

"It's a reminder to get vaccinated if you haven't already, even as cases go down," he added.

Other Politicians Who Tested Positive For COVID-19 In the Past

Barack Obama isn't the only politician who tested for the virus, as there were numerous cases of public servants who endured almost the same situation as him in the past.

According to Argus Leader, Representative Bob Glanzer became one of the first few people who tested and, unfortunately, died because of COVID-19.

The South Dakota-based politician died in March 2020. He tested positive in the same month, saying his fever had worsened.

Not all cases were severe, as Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey announced in December that he also tested positive for the virus, but his "symptoms are relatively mild."

"I'm beyond grateful to have received two doses of vaccine and, more recently, a booster - I'm certain that without them I would be doing much worse," he said at the time. (via The Hill)

Other politicians include Senator Elizabeth Warren, Governor Larry Hogan of Maryland, Representative Jason Crow, and many more.

Apart from the names mentioned above, the most shocking COVID-19 case this year was probably Queen Elizabeth II.

In February, the longest-reigning monarch has tested positive for the virus. Buckingham Palace announced that Her Majesty had mild symptoms, but she continued working on light duties at Windsor Castle.

After isolating from other members of the royal family for over a week, the Queen has recovered from the virus and went out to get fresh air and spent time with her close circle, including Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
