Over the past weeks, Rachel Zegler attended a few red carpet events, and awards show like this year's British Academy Film Awards and the Critics' Choice Movie Awards. However, it seems like she won't be attending the Oscars for a shocking reason.

On Sunday, the actress took to her Instagram account to share a series of photos featuring her activities throughout the first quarter of 2022.

One fan commented, saying they are looking forward to seeing what she would be wearing at the 2022 Academy Awards.

The "West Side Story" star then replied, saying she's not invited, so she will wear sweatpants and her boyfriend's flannel.

As many fans expressed disappointment about the actress not being invited, Zegler explained she tried it all, but "it doesn't seem to be happening."

Even though she won't attend the event, she will still support their nominated film from her couch and be proud of the work they did for over three years.

"I hope some last minute miracle occurs and I can celebrate our film in person but hey, that's how it goes sometimes, I guess," she added. (via The Wrap)

Zegler concluded her statement by saying she's as disappointed as her fans, but everything's good.

According to the outlet, presenters and nominees for the Oscars get tickets to the event, but cast members of a particular film, despite being nominated for Best Picture, aren't guaranteed to attend.

The studio usually decides which celebrities to walk the red carpet and be part of the 3,400 seats at Dolby Theatre.

At the time of this writing, there's still no information whether Zegler has been invited to the show after the fan outrage.

The Success of Rachel Zegler, 'West Side Story'

For the Academy Awards, "West Side Story" is nominated under the categories of sound, production design, cinematography, costume design, director, and supporting actress.

Even though Zegler won't be attending and not nominated at the awards night, she already received the Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical nod from the Golden Globes in January.

In the film, which is a remake of the 1961 musical classic, the actress played the role of Maria.

She was asked to star in the movie when she was just a high school student.

Today, Zegler is working tirelessly for Disney's "Snow White" live-action remake and DC's "Shazam! Fury of the Gods."
