"Knives Out" Director Rian Johnson unveils lead character Benoit Blanc's sexuality subtext into pure text.

"Glass Onion" is a sequel to the murder mystery film "Knives Out" directed by Rian Johnson. The sequel film stars Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Jessica Henwick, Kate Hudson, and more.

Benoit Blanc's Sexuality Revealed

Daniel Craig will reprise his role as the infamous detective Benoit Blanc in "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery", who has won a Golden Globe nomination for his critically acclaimed performance in the original film.

According to Insider, the film features a scene wherein Benoit Blanc lives with another man. In a recent press conference at the London Film Festival, director Rian Johnson was asked about the subtext behind the particular scene and if this means Benoit Blanc is queer, to which the director responded: "Yes he obviously is."

Additionally, director Rian Johnson and lead actor Daniel Craig elaborated on Benoit Blanc and the other man's relationship.

"And there's nobody in the world I can imagine in bringing me more joy for Benoit Blanc to be with." Johnson expressed, to which Daniel Craig added: "No spoilers [but] who wouldn't want to live with that person?"

What to Expect for 'Glass Onion'

"Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festivals and has received great reviews.

Aside from the expected mystery of a complicated case, the film gives a sneak peek into Blanc Benoit's private life. Daniel Craig's portrayal of Benoit Blanc has proved to be an interesting change of pace for fans of the "James Bond" film franchise, in which the actor has recurringly starred for the last 15 years.

"Blanc soon meets a distinctly disparate group of friends gathering at the invitation of billionaire Miles Bron for their yearly reunion," as stated in the official film synopsis. "As in all the best murder mysteries, each character harbours their own secrets, lies and motivations. When someone turns up dead, everyone is a suspect."

The sequel film will have its theatrical release in the United States for one week only from November 23 and will be available to stream on Netflix on December 23. A teaser trailer has been released by Netflix.
