Sylvester Stallone and his wife Jennifer Flavin have been married for 25 years now and they made headlines over the past few months when they were on the brink of separation. Today, the legendary actor is speaking about the brief split and how it hugely impacted his life.

Speaking to the Sunday Times, the "Expendables" star recalled their breakup in August before calling off their divorce just a few weeks after.

Explaining the situation, the 76-year-old actor said it was a "very tumultuous time" for him, but it hugely impacted his life because he considered their break-up as a "reawakening" of what's important for him in his life.

He added that the most valuable thing is his "love for my family. It takes precedence over my work, and that was a hard lesson to learn."

The businesswoman also issued a statement at the time, saying she was sad to announce that she filed for divorce after being married to the actor for 25 years.

"While we will no longer be married, I will always cherish the more than 30-year relationship that we shared," she told the outlet.

The couple tied the knot in 1997, but they have been in a relationship since 1988.

Just weeks after filing for divorce, the two confirmed that their separation will not push through and they were spotted in New York City just weeks after that.

The pair met up with Leonardo DiCaprio and his dad and the couple was wearing wedding rings.

Flavin and Stallone have three daughters, named Sophia, Scarlet, and Sistine. The actor has five children. He also had two children named Sage and Seargeoh from his first marriage with Sasha Czack.

Speaking about fatherhood in the same interview, the actor spoke about his family, saying he didn't pay attention to his kids when they were growing up because of his busy career, but he's doing his best today to bond with them as much as possible and start asking about their lives.
