Former NHL player Konstantin Koltsov has died by suicide on Monday, the Miami-Dade Police Department has confirmed. He was 42.

The former Pittsburgh Penguins forward and boyfriend of world no. 2 tennis player, Aryna Sabalenka, was found dead after reportedly jumping from a balcony of Regis Bal Harbour Resort in Miami Beach, Florida.

"On Monday, March 18, 2024, at approximately 12:39 a.m., Bal Harbour Police and Fire Rescue were dispatched to the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort ... in reference to a male that jumped from a balcony," read a statement from the Miami-Dade Police Department published by People.

"The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau, responded and has taken over the investigation of the apparent suicide of Mr. Konstantin Koltsov. No foul play is suspected."

Born in Belarus, Koltsov was drafted by the Penguins in 1999 and played for the team between 2002 and 2006, before returning to Russia to play for Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the Russia Super League. He retired in 2016.

He started dating Belarusian tennis star Sabalenka in 2021 after divorcing his first wife in 2020. Koltsov has routinely traveled with the athlete to support her at her tournaments, People reported. He was in Miami for the Miami Open where Sabalenka is currently competing.

According to a post by The Tennis Letter on X, formerly Twitter, Sabalenka was seen training following the report of Koltsov's death. Support from fans have also poured in.

Sabalenka is set to face the winner of the Simona Halep vs. Paula Bedosa match on Thursday. She will stay in the tournament but will not be available for press.

In December, the tennis star shared an Instagram reel showing a montage of memories with her boyfriend in 2023. The two were seen vacationing, dancing, laughing and sharing sweet moments.

Sabalenka has yet to comment on Koltsov's death.
