Author and political commentator Michael Wolff says a legal dispute with First Lady Melania Trump has reignited longstanding questions about where she primarily lives, adding a new chapter to his years-long public feud with the Trump family.

As per CourtHouse News Service, the controversy stems from an ongoing court battle that began after Wolff made comments linking Melania Trump to the social circle of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The first lady's attorneys strongly denied the allegations and threatened legal action, prompting Wolff to file a preemptive anti-SLAPP lawsuit in New York last year.

During a recent appearance on the podcast "Legal AF", Wolff argued that the case evolved beyond questions of defamation and became focused on determining Melania Trump's legal residency.

According to Wolff, attorneys representing the first lady maintained that she is a resident of Florida, citing her voter registration and driver's license records. The issue became central to determining where the lawsuit should be heard.

A federal judge ultimately accepted Melania Trump's claim of Florida residency in a ruling issued May 22, keeping the matter in federal court rather than New York state court. Wolff, however, argued that the evidence suggested otherwise.

"She spends the overwhelming amount of her time in New York," Wolff said during the interview, claiming that many of her personal and professional connections remain tied to the city.

Atlanta Black Star reported that the author said his legal team sought additional discovery that could have provided more information about where the first lady spends most of her time, but the request was denied by the court.

Wolff also renewed one of his most controversial claims regarding the Trump marriage, alleging that Melania Trump does not regularly live with President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C., or at the family's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

The White House has repeatedly pushed back against similar assertions in the past. Officials have dismissed Wolff's reporting as inaccurate, and Trump allies have frequently criticized the author for his coverage of the president and his family.

Speculation about Melania Trump's whereabouts has circulated for years, particularly during periods when she maintained a limited public schedule compared with previous first ladies. However, no evidence presented in court challenged her claim of Florida residency, and the judge's ruling allowed that designation to stand.

Wolff has indicated that he plans to appeal the decision. The legal dispute continues to draw attention because it intersects with broader public interest in the Trumps' personal lives, a subject that has remained a frequent focus of media coverage throughout Donald Trump's political career.
