Brad Pitt's Mom Getting Death Threats After Anti-Obama Letter
Brad Pitt's mother Jane Pitt has been receiving death threats following the publication of her letter to a local newspaper in Springfield, Missouri where she urges people not to vote for President Barack Obama.
Jane Pitt wrote a letter to the Springfield News Leader stating that Romney was a "man with high morals, business experience who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality" whereas Obama was a liberal that supported abortion and same-sex marriage.
“Any Christian who does not vote or writes in a name is casting a vote for Romney’s opponent, Barack Hussein Obama — a man who sat in Jeremiah Wright’s church for years, did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer, and is a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage,” Mrs. Pitt wrote on July 3.
Pitt's mother’s letter came in response to a letter that was previously printed in the newspaper by another Christian who shared strong views on religion and politics.
"Christians who want a government that reflects their values believe that God guides and protects their country," said Richard Stoecker in his opinion piece. "Not a few Christians believe that, just as Romney and his supporters are offended by complaints about Romney's Mormonism, Christians are offended, and believe God could be offended, by the teachings of Mormonism."
One report stated Pitt’s mother’s voice showed “fear and despair” even as she declined to comment on the matter after a question concerning the negative responses to her letter.
"WND spoke briefly with Pitt and asked about the media assault against her for her comments as a private citizen supporting Romney. With inflections in her voice that conveyed fear and despair, she quietly and politely said she was not interested in talking to anyone in the media about the incident," news agency WND reported today.
The death threats Jane Pitt has received so far have been made through Twitter.
“Brad Pitt’s mom, die,” wrote a Twitter user called Sandy Kownacka.
“Brad Pitt’s mom wrote an anti-gay pro-Romney editorial. Kill the b—-,” Twitter user “I Bleed Gaga” wrote.
Mrs. Pitt doesn’t share some of the same views of her son Brad. In an interview with People Magazine Pitt voiced his support of the LGBT community saying, "No state should decide who can marry and who cannot. Thanks to the tireless work of so many, someday soon this discrimination will end and every American will be able to enjoy their equal right to marriage."
For many years Brad and his partner Angelina Jolie said they will not get married until the United States has equal marriage rights for same-sex couples.
