A Fox News host came under fire this week after suggesting Donald Trump's sneakers could sway the Black vote in America.

Raymond Arroyo's comments sparked outrage online as many viewers felt the assumption was outright racist, playing into negative stereotypes during an episode of Fox News' 'The Big Weekend Show.'

Arroyo, 53, spoke boldly about how Black support is eroding from current President Joe Biden while Trump, 77, is connecting to Black America because "they love sneakers."

The commentator suggested to millions of viewers that Black voters would abandon the Democratic Party and Joe Biden, 81, in droves due to Trump's sneaker drop, "certainly in the inner city."

"Even the sneaker thing. I was on social media last night. Very interesting as you see Black support eroding from Joe Biden," Arroyo stated. "This is connecting with Black America because they love sneakers... This is a big deal."

He continued: "When you have Trump roll out his sneaker line, they're like, 'Wait a minute, this is cool!' He's reaching them on a level that defies and is above politics. The culture always trumps politics, and Trump understands culture like no politician I've ever seen."

A fellow news anchor chimed in, asking whether or not those who support Trump's sneakers will actually go out and vote. He replied, "Yes."

"Well, anybody willing to put $400 bucks down for a pair of sneakers, yeah. I think that's commitment and love. It's something, it's affection," he continued.

The former president made an appearance at Philadelphia's Sneaker Con event, presenting self-branded "Never Surrender" high-top sneakers. Priced at $399, the metallic gold and American flag-printed sneaker flew off the shelves, selling out within hours of its launch.

In November 2020, Statista released a poll that revealed Biden won the Black vote with a staggering 87% to Trump's 12%.
