Sean Penn criticized the entire "fu----- world" for abandoning Haiti after it was hit by a catastrophic earthquake in January 2010.

"It's not only celebrities who went for a day," Penn told reporters at a news conference in the Cannes Film Festival today.

"It's the whole fu----- world. It's all of you," he continued, according to The Wrap.

“The reason we have Haiti fatigue is because there was never a commitment in the first place,” the actor said.

He said that U.S. President Barack Obama should meet with Haitian President Michel Martelly who was recently appointed as the head.

Penn, director Paul Haggis and model Petra Nemcova held a press conference for a fundraising event for Haiti in Cannes.

The Oscar winning actor received the 2012 Peace Summit Award given by the Nobel Laureates, for his work in Haiti.

He founded the charitable organization J/P Haitian Relief Organization to provide food, sanitation and health care to people in Haiti.
