Tamar Braxton’s sister, Trina Braxton, has spoken out as Tamar made her first public appearance since she filed for divorce from her now estranged husband, Vincent Herbert. She was spotted at the Soul Train Awards earlier this week.

Trina, who also attended the star-studded event spoke with Hip Hollywood. She let fans know that Tamar isn’t in the best of spirits as she ended what would have marked nine years of marriage for her and Herbert this month.

“As an artist you have to take that and you have to support your performance,” Trina said of Tamar, who also hit the stage during the show. “You have to let all that other stuff go.”

While the sisters have certainly had their differences, it looks like Tamar’s high profile split has brought the family closer.

“We’re spending a lot of time together. It’s sometime good, sometimes not so good. It’s been not so good lately,” Trina said.

The matriarch of the family, Evelyn Braxton, also spoke with the entertainment news site and said she’s doing what she knows is best to do and that’s praying for Tamar.

There has been lots of speculation and rumors as to why Tamar and Herbert’s marriage ended. Some reports said that things went downhill after Tamar was fired from The Real last year. Tamar was one of the first co-hosts to be the face of the show since its pilot season ran in the summer of 2013. However, it was quite a shocker when she was let go between the second and third season last May. There is still no clear answer as to why the show decided to give her the ax, but interestingly enough some say it was Herbert’s secret diva moves on set that caused the show not to want to work with her.

Still, Tamar’s sister Towanda Braxton was the first to speak out about the split. She told TMZ that the two had marital woes long before Tamar was let go from the popular daytime talk show. She said, in fact, that they are just now coming to light after Herbert continued to cover it up to the public.

As for what the secret issues were, Tamar’s mother confirmed that Herbert was physically abusive to the singer and reality star during a separate interview with TMZ. She said Herbert needs to get professional help before he seriously “hurts” or even “kills” someone. Be sure to keep up with Enstars for the latest.
